Today we had a low key day full of walks and naps.

 E and I did head out at sunset to cross the Bad Axe river and find the Scottish Highland cows.

The evening light made for some really nice photos.

E, giving me a sample of her "where are you cows" moo.

There they are.

Today was a day spent feeding the farm animals, walking the corn fields, visiting an apple orchard and enjoying a lovely, early October dusk.

Hopefully the amount of pictures in this post makes up for the previous one's lack.

Apples are hard to eat when you are missing 4 teeth.

Josh was of the mentality that we should all eat our weight in apples before we even left the orchard.

Ok.

This is our LAST vacation of the year.

I promise.

But we had to go to "our farmhouse"...the one we've rented for about a week every year, for the last 6 years ...we just had to.

Plus we wanted to get away and be all together this time.

Boy, was it needed.

And relaxing.

And perfect.

And we didn't want to come home.

Our first day was spent mostly just getting there.

We arrived in time for afternoon tea. (To warm up.)

Dinner.

And a fire. (Again, to warm up.)

The stars that came out after dark were AMAZING.

Out there, in the middle of nowhere western Wisconsin, you can see the whole milky way lit up like a glittering pathway.

Josh and I saw about 8 shooting stars.

And we listened to coyotes yipping and barking and singing their primitive, haunting songs late into the night.
