A little DIY...
I saw this on Pinterest last week. Well, a version of this anyway. (Link posted below.) And I decided that a rustic, shabby-chic-ish and cheap outdoor chandelier was just what our backyard needed.
Just picture it with me, you're lying out in a hammock, beneath the dense green foliage of a large Maple tree and at the same time you're able to watch something lovely and airy and just a tiny bit glamorous swing gently in the breeze and dappled sunlight streaming down from up above. Can you imagine anything more tranquil?
I can't.
And perhaps it would be so tranquil it would prompt me to stop in my tracks now and then, take a minute, take a breath and just enjoy the view.
So I bought some burlap ribbon, 2 yards of pretty beaded trim and a stained, secondhand lampshade. Then I stripped the lampshade down to bare wire. (At this unfinished point my daughter pronounced my little craft project "sad". Not to worry, I assured her. The magic was just beginning.) Using a hot glue gun I started wrapping the burlap around each wire. And then I merely looped the beads evenly around, secured them with a push pin and found a suitable branch. The problem is it looks so lovely that I just might want to bring it indoors...
We shall see...
